Lise hated needing cash. When she was younger and her mother was still alive, she never needed for anything. Her mother and father made sure she and Scott were taken care of. But those days were long since gone. Her mother was dead, along with her brother Scott. Her dad was more than likely passed out somewhere with his crack whore wife Debbie. Lise had been on her own for a very long time.
So here she was sitting on the stage singing for some cash for the next motel room and a bite to eat. The heat from the stage lights were miserable and uncomfortable. But hell, it was a job and she got to sing. It was the tiny distraction to her life. For once she was normal.
Normality was a luxury now a days. Lise was a hunter. Her game? Demons, werewolves, vampires and anything else that filled the world full of darkness. Little did she know as a child, she would one day join a very old line of hunters. Generations of the women in her family had stood up against the evil in the world. It wasn't the life she had wanted but anything was better than being stuck in bum-fuck Kentucky with her father and step mother.
She strummed at her guitar as her voice carried the soft tone. The audience stopped their chatting and what not to listen. Lise smiled a bit. She enjoyed the attention. Being a bit of an attention whore, she loved the stage. Once she thought she'd make it big. Her songs would be on the radio and her face on the television. Destiny had a way however of mulling up plans. Once she got paid for performing and settled into a motel tonight, it would be back to her real work.
Lise wasn't in town just passing through. No she was on a case. She had gotten word that a few demons had taken up residence in this small town. She needed to exterminate them. But for now she was content to pretend her life was normal.
The song ended. The crowd seemed pleased with the very small country girl's performance. She smiled and thanked them and moved off the stage. She walked over to the bar. The Keep, gave an approving nod and slid Lise an envelop full of cash. She tucked it into her pocket. "Hey doll, Get me a bourbon on the rocks", her slight southren drawl purred to the barkeep.
